Charles plays a pivotal role in overseeing the coordination and management of 42 EducationUSA advising centers across 24 countries. Charles boasts a wealth of experience collaborating with the U.S. higher education community, focusing on international student mobility trends, institutional partnerships and linkages, innovative regional recruitment strategies, and the creation of impactful engagement opportunities. At the heart of his endeavors is close collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Embassies/Consulates within his portfolio. Charles is dedicated to promoting and advancing the U.S. higher education sector—leveraging international education as a $50B top-ten U.S. service export and promoting its economic and societal contributions to advance U.S. soft power diplomacy, influence, and global engagement—while fostering meaningful connections that transcend borders. With a seasoned career in educational diplomacy spanning over a decade, Charles Hornstra is also a proud United States Fulbright alumnus and graduate of Rutgers University. Previous professional postings include Thailand, Malaysia, and New York in the United States.
