Amber Mollhagen, PhD, is the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Her professional interests center on the impact of non-academic programming and financial support on student success and sense of belonging, the value of diversity in higher education, and disaster response and recovery planning within academic institutions. Dr. Mollhagen has secured federal and state funding to develop mentoring, training, and financial support initiatives for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. She teaches undergraduate practicum seminars and macro practice courses, contributing to the academic and professional development of future social workers. She currently serves on the board of the National Deans and Directors of Social Work Admissions and has been widely recognized for her leadership, service, and commitment to student support. Her honors include the prestigious C.F. McElhinney Award, the highest staff award at the University of Houston, as well as additional recognition from the UH Graduate College of Social Work, the National Deans and Directors of Social Work Admissions, the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services, and the Office of the President.
