Cindy Carter, LCSW-S is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Florida State University and her M.S.W. from The University of Texas at Austin.
As a member of the Practicum Education team, Cindy works to reimagine the practicum experience. She has been instrumental in shaping innovative policies and practices that place the student experience at the forefront, confront the oppressive systems students encounter in their placements, and implement strategies to reduce harm in experiential learning environments. She is deeply committed to dismantling systemic barriers that have long limited access to the social work profession.
Carter brings extensive clinical experience, specializing in work with children, adolescents, and families, with expertise in treating mood and anxiety disorders, somatoform disorders, and borderline personality disorder. As a board-certified clinical supervisor, she is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of social workers.
